Everyone who works at The Parent Practice is a parent, encountering the everyday challenges that all parents face. We are all passionate about helping others to transform their family life, having experienced that sort of transformation ourselves. None of us are perfect parents, we just have a large tool-kit to delve into to help our children and family life be the best it can be.
The Parent Practice was founded by Melissa Hood and Camilla McGill in 2004 (having been operating as The New Learning Centre South since 2000). All our facilitators trained originally at The New Learning Centre in North London with Noel Janis-Norton, a learning and behaviour specialist. Noel is an author and teacher with over thirty years experience in the field of parenting.
Our principles are based on ideas formulated by Noel Janis-Norton as well as drawing on ideas from Bonnie Harris (author of 'When Kids Push your Buttons and What to do about it'), Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish ('How to talk so Kids will listen and listen so kids will talk') and uses the principles of Neuro Linguistic Programming and Systemic Family therapy. We also draw greatly from our own experiences as parents.
The Parent Practice is a member of Parenting UK.
