No prior contact with The Parent Practice is required for you to come along to a workshop. Workshops last three hours, they are interactive and stimulating and give people practical skills to take away and use with their children.

By request we also hold workshops in people’s homes or for parents at a school.

Fostering Harmony between Siblings

Do your children often bicker, argue or fight? Do they come to you complaining about each other or telling tales?  Parents find it very upsetting to witness their child being cruel to his/her sibling. This workshop will give you practical skills to help your children be more tolerant and considerate of each other and resolve arguments successfully.
We will show you how much can be done to make it easier for your children to like each other.  We will look at the causes of the rivalry and teach you many practical, well-tried solutions to help reduce the fighting and create a more harmonious environment. We will also look at effective ways to intervene without appointing yourself judge and to help the children resolve their own disputes.

Positive Discipline
What to do when your child says “no”

Most parents find disciplining their children one of the hardest things to do. They often feel they swing from being too lenient to overly harsh. When children are well-behaved it makes everyone’s life easier. We teach parents ways of achieving a balance so that they can be both positive, and firm and consistent at the same time.

Raising Confident Children
Boosting motivation and self-assurance

Confident children are happy children who are willing to try new things and persevere. They develop a positive ’can-do’ attitude and look for solutions. They are less vulnerable to peer pressure and bullying and more considerate of others. They are better able to handle life’s knocks.

In this workshop we will look at practical and effective ways of fostering self-confidence and self-motivation in children.

What to do When your Children push your Buttons

Sometimes your children just seem to do the very thing that pushes your buttons and at these times it is very easy to overreact and then regret it later. This workshop will give you skills and strategies to help you keep your cool in these situations and respond positively to your children's behaviour.

Managing Meltdowns and Misbehaviour

When your children don’t get what they want do they have ‘melt downs’, shouting, screaming, or hitting? Do you lose your temper when they
mimic or pull faces or blow raspberries? Do you sometimes feel like
slapping them if they tell you to shut up, swear or use a rude
tone of voice?

In this workshop we look at the reasons why children misbehave and give strategies for dealing with it in a more effective and positive way
